Firefighters are urging residents across Cheshire to check their tumble dryers to make sure they are not a potential fire risk.

Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda tumble dryers have been recalled because of a risk of fire caused by fluff coming into contact with heating elements.

The recall relates to tumble dryers manufactured by Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda between April 2004 and September 2015.

The advice from the charity Electrical Safety First is that anyone who discovers they have tumble dryer that has been recalled should stop using it until it has been checked by the manufacturer.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service head of prevention, Nick Evans, said: “I would urge everyone with a Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda tumble dryer to follow the recall information on our website.

“It is also important that household appliances bought in the last 12 years are registered here as this means that manufacturers can directly contact everyone who has appliances registered with any recall notices or safety information.”
