MALPAS pupils are getting a helping hand from a cricket star in the Strictly Come Dancing Schools competition.

Bishop Heber High School, Malpas, has been selected along with other schools in Malbank, Brine Leas and Shavington to train with cricket ace and Strictly Come Dancing star Darren Gough.

Twelve couples from each school will attend eight training sessions with a professional ballroom dancer and Gough will monitor their progress.

A grand final competition will then be held where each couple will perform two selected dances.

Two pupils are no stranger to dance success. Chloe Hewitt of Bishop Heber and dance partner AJ Pritchard of Brine Leas are the current junior UK ballroom champions.

Though not entitled to enter the competition, they will be on hand to give help and advice to the couples.
