CHILDREN at The Beeches Pre-School in Malpas have been spending time finding ways of Keeping Safe.

As part of this topic, PC Rob Boulton and PCSO Tracy Shaw came to visit the children, talking to them about all aspects of keeping safe.

The children had a lovely time, trying on the officers’ helmets and sitting in their car.

And thanks to resources borrowed from Cheshire County Council’s road safety department, they practised different methods of crossing the road.

The pre-school then took the children on a visit to Malpas Fire Station, where they learned all about fire safety.

They again tried on the uniforms, looked at the equipment, sat in the engine and tested out the fire hoses, knocking down cones with the water!

Sue Anderson from The Beeches said: “The benefits to the children of having our community services talk to them in this way are enormous and we are very grateful to PC Boulton and PCSO Tracy, and firefighters Margot Davies, Stuart Morrison and Tim Watson for giving up their valuable time in this way.”

Pictures from the Keeping Safe event will appear in the Country edition of this Friday’s Chronicle.
