POLICE in Cheshire will get more than £200,000 in seized funds to fight crime.

Cheshire Constabulary will benefit to the tune of £207,564.25 from assets recovered from criminals from October to December last year.

Prosecutors and courts will receive chunks of the ill-gotten gains from an incentive scheme allowing the police and recovery agencies to keep half the money they confiscate.

Government Home Office Minister Vernon Coaker said: "Taking money from criminals makes crime far less profitable for them.

“At the same time, that money is ploughed directly back into the police force that seized it so they can use for their fight against crime in their area.
