CHESHIRE police bosses have pledged to reach out and build bridges with the area’s young people.

The force has launched a new venture in conjunction with the youth-focused Brian Kennedy Charitable Settlement organisation to improve communication between young people, the constabulary and the community by working with charitable and volunteer organisations.

Cheshire Chief Constable David Whatton said: “The constabulary is fully committed to working in partnership with the Brian Kennedy Charitable Settlement to improve the life chances of the young people of Cheshire.

“Giving young people the opportunity to have their voices heard and supporting them to take positive action to improve their school and community life we believe is important.

“We will be looking to explore ideas that support young people and help them to positively contribute and make a difference to what goes on within their school or within the community where they live.

“We will be launching a wide range of projects designed to positively influence young people.”

Brian Kennedy said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to forge a partnership with Cheshire Constabulary that will, I’m sure, help young people in schools and their communities to communicate and resolve any issues that may be endangering them or their friends.

“Working with young people, listening to their views and supporting their development is important to both organisations.”
