Cheshire Police is encouraging young people all over Cheshire to make some noise this summer holiday with a competition for wannabe singers and groups.

The prizes include the chance to win a day as a rock star, a session in a recording studio, airtime on selected stations in Cheshire, and photographic and design time for an album cover.

The task is to write, perform and record a three minute song based on one of the Upbeat topics, which can be found online at www.upbeat.uk.com . This can be as part of a band, solo singer or group. The song must be original so no cover versions please! All the entries can then be viewed on the Cheshire Police YouTube page.

Cheshire Police is organising the competition to highlight a new website for young people and teenagers in Cheshire. The site provides advice on policing related matters and issues that affect young people. The website uses a variety of interactive features such as videos and online magazines.

Upbeat not only highlights on-going key issues that affect teenagers but also talks about up to date topics, ensuring the site is consistent with stories currently in the media.

The performance can be uploaded to YouTube. Simply email the link to your video to upbeat@cheshire.pnn.police.uk . Applicants will have until August 16, 2010, to send in their entries. There is no limit to the numbers of bands/groups who apply from any one school and applicants can enter as many times as they want. The judging panel will consist of a member of Cheshire Constabulary, a studio producer and three young people from local schools.

Full terms and conditions can be found at www.upbeat.uk.com or on Cheshire Police's Facebook page.
