THE police helicopter was scrambled in pursuit of burglars who remain at large.

The break-in took place at a house in Stocks Lane, Boughton, about 5.20pm on Thursday (April 14).

The burglars made off in a silver Ford Fiesta, registration number FL10 OZO, on hire car from a firm in Merseyside.

They drove through Chester city centre and into Hoole. Aware that patrol cars were moving in, they abandoned the vehicle in Springfield drive.

Four men were seen to run through a garden on Woodlands Drive and onto the nearby cycle track in the direction of Kingsway. Police scrambled the force helicopter to help with the search but to no avail.

Police would like to hear from witnesses including any taxi drivers who picked up four men in the area at that time.

Two are described as white, in their late teens or early twenties and slim with short hair. Another was also in his late teens or early twenties; a fourth man was older, probably in his forties with greying hair.

Some of the stolen property was recovered from the car.
