Cheshire Oaks shoppers stuck in car park for more than two hours

Drivers furious over long waits after exit slip road was closed

Shoppers at Cheshire Oaks faced two hour waits to leave the car park yesterday (Saturday, November 12) after an exit road was closed.

Police were telling drivers to stay away from the area due to congestion when the exit slip road was closed on Cheshire Oaks Way at B5132 Kinsey Road (Cheshire Oaks).

There was further congestion on M53 to J10 A5117 (Little Stanney) and on M56 to A5117 / A494.

Shoppers stuck in the car park took to Twitter to complain.

Marks & Spencer to close 30 stores – but fates of Chester, Cheshire Oaks and Broughton stores unknown

One said: "We have been stuck @CheshireOaks now for over 2 hours! Are we ever getting home?"

Another tweeted: "Seriously Cheshire Oaks, can you get some stewards in the multi-story to try and help with traffic I'm approaching 3 hours now, 3ft moved."

Stagecoach MCSL tweeted: "Still having problems, two hours to get out of Cheshire Oaks plus tunnel road works sorry for delay."

Police later said the exit slip road had re-opened on Cheshire Oaks Way and traffic eventually returned to normal.
