A girlguiding community recognised the commendable contributions of its leaders at its annual celebration evening last month.

More than 50 Cheshire Forest leaders were presented with long service awards, with some receiving 30 and 40 year awards.

Leaders Jan Brown and Sheila Evans received the North West England Chief Commissioner’s Award for their hard work and dedication to guiding within the county.

Jean Gosling, of Curzon Park, Chester, received one of the highest awards available, the Laurel Award, in recognition of outstanding service.

Jean has held a variety of roles within the county, region and nationally, where she has proved her leadership skills and effective team membership.

Cheshire Forest county commissioner Catriona Skinner said: “We are hugely grateful to all our fabulous and dedicated volunteers, without whom 11,000 girls and young women across Cheshire would not have the amazing opportunities that they do.”
