RESIDENTS across Cheshire West and Chester are being urged to take their cars to their local fire station rather than the car wash in March as firefighters and fire cadets will be out with their buckets and sponges to help raise as much money as they can for The Fire Fighters Charity.

A series of charity car washes will take place at fire stations and staff will also provide all drivers with vital road safety advice.

Chair of the Fire Fighters Charity and Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin said: “The charity car wash is a great way to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity which has provided assistance to serving and retired Firefighters for more than 60 years and also increase awareness of road safety.

“Unfortunately our Firefighters see first hand the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions and I really hope that drivers will go along to their local Fire Station and support this event as they will not only be helping our staff and The Fire Fighters Charity but they will also take away vital road safety advice which could save their lives.”

The charity car washes will take place on Saturday, March 20 at Chester Fire Station between 10.30am–4pm; Ellesmere Port Fire Station from 11am–4pm and on Saturday, March 27 at Northwich Fire Station between 10am–3pm.
