CHESHIRE motorists are becoming immune to warnings about the dangers of drink and drug driving, according to figures released by Cheshire Police.

Their drink and drug drive Christmas campaign ran from December 1 to January 1 and results reveal an increase of almost eight per cent in the number of positive breath tests.

The long-suspected problem of drug driving was also bought to the forefront with 16 per cent of all those tested being arrested for driving whilst impaired by drugs.

Following an extensive training programme on Field Impairment Testing (FIT) the increase in the number of those tested and arrested for drug driving was expected.
