The Cheshire County Sports Club in Chester is to host a celebratory open day on Saturday (January 9).

Visitors will be able to see the latest improvements to the facilities including investment of £60,000 in a new fitness suite and studio.

They can test the equipment, see some sample classes in action between 10am and 4pm and speak to staff about flexible, best value memberships.

Local celebrities, charities and fitness experts will be on hand to discuss how New Year resolutions can be turned into action. There will be free refreshments and entertainment for the children to enjoy while the adults explore the best value, newest fitness facility in the region and chat to the friendly team about individual fitness options.

Manager of the Cheshire County Sports Club, Jennifer Brookes, said: “Many local residents have been coming to The Cheshire over the years and have fond memories of its vast sports facilities and traditional social areas.

Getting fit and healthy

"The open day is a chance to refresh their views, see what we have to offer now; one of the most comprehensive sporting and fitness facilities in Cheshire, meet the team and explore the opportunities to get fit and healthy here.

"As a not for profit organisation we have heavily invested our profits back into developing various facilities over the past 13 years to meet the needs and demand of our users and the wider community, including the County Lounge, synthetic pitches and, of course, the clubhouse that was opened by Michael Owen and Lucy Meacock.

"We have now invested in our fitness facilities to offer the best value option for people to get fit along with the flexible and friendly service that we are renowned for.

"The number one resolution this New Year is to get fit and healthy, we offer the opportunity to do this with our extended opening hours, new state-of-the-art equipment, friendly staff and free classes with Fitness@TheCheshire membership."

The Fitness Suite and the studio are located in the main building on Plas Newton Lane.
