Around 250 people attended the special service including civic dignitaries from across Cheshire and the surrounding counties. Guests also included many Honorary Aldermen, past Chairmen of the County Council and a number of local Parish Councillors.
The Rev Doctor Keith Davies, chairman of the Manchester and Stockport District of the Methodist Church, gave the address. The first lesson was read by County Councillor Wilkinson and the second lesson was read by Chairman of Cheshire National Farmers Union Richard Clegg.
County Councillor Wilkinson said: “The theme for my year in office is to promote and support agriculture and the rural economy in Cheshire and that was why I chose to have my Civic Service at Knutsford Methodist Church on the same day that Harvest Festival was celebrated.
“I chose to send the collection to two charities that support farming people locally and in Africa.
“I would also like to thank Rev Paul Wilson for welcoming everyone to my Civic Service.”
