A CHARITY row to Chester is planned for this weekend.

Organiser Ray Woolley, from Connah’s Quay, will be among the rowers making the journey from his home town on Sunday in aid of Cancer Research.

The event will be the 77th row for pensioner Ray, who has been a keen fundraiser for 37 years.

He said: “We really need people to come out and support us.

“Charities are what keep the country going, if we didn’t have them God help us, so we need to show support.”

At least 30 people will take part in the row and Ray, a member of the Deeside Cancer Research Fundraising Committee, is encouraging people to get in touch and bring a kayak or canoe to join in.

The group will set off from The Old Quay House, which will be having live entertainment and children’s activities for the day, and finish at The Groves in Chester, where the city’s Lord Mayor will greet them.

Anyone interested in either taking part or donating should call Ray on 07519 703803 or Colin on 01244 830227.
