The family of a much-missed Chester man hope to raise funds for charity on the first anniversary of his death.

This month marks 12 months since Mike Morley lost his battle with pancreatic cancer , and to commemorate the date, his daughter Elaine, to whom he was extremely close, is holding a ‘Pint for Mike’ night at The Commercial Hotel from 5pm onwards on March 16.

Elaine said: “Having a pint was something we always did so it’s my little way of feeling like I’m close to him and hopefully raising some cash and awareness of Pancreatic Cancer UK and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in the process.

“Dad touched so many lives, whether it was tweeting about his beloved Chester FC, giving local school kids ‘bikeability’ training, when he was a manager at the Nationwide bank or just always having a laugh, joke and kind word - even to strangers on the tube!

“It’s just a straight from work affair and a percentage of takings and donations will be split between Pancreatic Cancer UK and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

“Dad really was such a cutie,” she added. “It’s a nice way to remember him.”
