The family of a ‘beautiful and admired’ Vicars Cross woman who lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this year have organised a night to remember in celebration of her life and to raise money for the charities which supported her.

Sheila Brown, who worked in the environmental health department at Cheshire West and Chester Council , died in February aged 54, 12 years after being diagnosed.

Now her daughter Rebecca Brown and nieces Samantha and Abbey Brookfield are busy putting the finishing touches to Charity Evening in Memory of Sheila Brown at the Guildhall in Chester on Friday, May 22.

The event, which is in aid of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Macmillan Cancer Support, will feature a champagne reception, entertainment, raffle and auction.

Becky explained that Macmillan Cancer Support is ‘close to our hearts’ because of the support they offered her mum during her illness, which enabled her to maintain her positive attitude.

“Throughout her battle she was always a strong advocate of their amazing works and enjoyed attending support groups where she could spend time with people who understood exactly what she was going through,” she said.

Rebecca also praised the Hospice, where Sheila passed away, for making her mum’s final days ‘comfortable’ and ‘peaceful’.

Two-hundred tickets have already been sold, making it a sell-out event.

Samantha said this is ‘not surprising considering what a beautiful and admired person Sheila was’ and wants to thank everyone who has generously donated items for the raffle and auction.

Rebecca added: “I only wish my mum would be joining us, however I know she will be proud of us all, knowing all her favourite people are coming together for such a fantastic cause.

“She was an inspiration to everyone that knew her, no-one had a bad word to say about her and of course she was the perfect mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunty and friend.”
