A CHESTER school is top of the pops in Claire Bear land.
Pupils and parents at The Firs School, Newton have raised £13,698 for Claire House children’s hospice.
Their efforts puts The Firs at the top of the schools fundraising list according to Janet Crocker, head of appeals at the charity.
A delighted Margaret Denton, headteacher at the school, said she was ‘amazed’ at the final figure.
More than £10,000 came from a ball and auction organised by the parents committee at the Grosvenor Hotel.
Further fundraising, which also saw the school choir performing in Liverpool Cathedral, brought in the rest.
The school now has a certificate of appreciation from Claire House in recognition of its efforts.
