Members of the Chapel Choir of Abbey Gate College sang Evensong at St Paul's Cathedral in London during the Easter holidays.

The 70-strong choir performed with organist James Kealey, a former Abbey Gate student, who is now organ scholar at Royal Holloway College.

The canticles were sung to the setting by Alan Gray in F minor for unaccompanied double choir and the anthem was Wesley’s setting of Blessed be the God and Father which featured a solo by sixth form student Ruth Siddorn.

The choir has sung at St Paul’s every year for the past 24 years and this year director of music, Stewart Smith, estimated that there were in excess of 800 in the congregation.

The choir continues to play at a number of venues throughout Cheshire and are now in preparation for a week-long tour in July, when they will perform at Hereford Cathedral.
