THERE are now more ways to acquire knowledge than ever before thanks to an exciting development in adult learning in Mid Cheshire.

Learndirect centres have got together to create a better service to the community.

The enlarged group is centred on the Vale Royal Disability Services (VRDS) Learning Centre in Watling Street, Northwich, which already operates a network of five and has now been joined by another four.

In addition to the VRDS centre, the others in Northwich are The New Vic community learning centre in Neumann Street and Deafness Support Network on London Road.

In Winsford, Learndirect courses are offered at The Junction cybercafé, evening classes at Verdin High School and specialist learning at the Dingle Centre, while others in Great Barrow, Frodsham and Sandbach complete the line-up.

Training manager Giles Fry said: 'There is no classroom pressures, just lots of help and support to make sure you get what you want - you may want to hone your skills, or need to get an up-to-date qualification to get that special job. You may want to do better in your existing job or you may just want a better quality of life.

'Learndirect offers a good-value range of short courses that can be put together to get the qualification you need.

'Make sure you ask about fee remission, because if you are receiving certain benefits, then some courses will be completely free.'

To celebrate the new set-up, organisers are giving away a £50 Argos voucher to one lucky learner in time for Christmas. Details are posted in each of the centres in Northwich and Winsford.
