HALEBANK is making final preparations for a double-bill of events this Sunday.

Halebank Timehoppers Carnival at Pickerings Pasture will be followed by a charity football match at Blackburne Avenue at 4pm, when Halebank FC will play a team from Mersey TV's Hollyoaks .

Proceeds from the game will go to the Harry Whitley Appeal, which is helping a Widnes boy with a rare form of epilepsy, and Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The day has been made possible by the Kings Cross Project - particularly Kerry Rooney, who has been instrumental in the organisation and funding and worked closely with Hale-bank Carnival Committee to make the carnival and match successful.

Halebank FC chairman Phil Sheridan said: 'We are expecting a good turnout and with good players such as Chris Fountain and Nick Pickard - plus many others from the show - we should also have a very competitive match.'
