WHAT are the best and the worst things about the town centre?

The borough council is challenging residents and visitors to capture on camera the good, the bad and the ugly in the central part of Ellesmere Port.

A panel of judges will choose one winning photograph and three runners-up.

These will include officers from the planning policy and projects team at the council as well as Bernard Rose, a local commercial photog rapher.

Ellesmere Port photographic shop the Colour Centre is sponsoring the competition.

The winner will receive a prize of £100 of vouchers and three runners-up will each receive a prize of £20 of vouchers to be used at the Colour Centre.

Senior planning officer Catherine Morgetroyd said: 'We're really looking forwards to seeing the entries. We've all got our own ideas of the best and worst of the area between the town centre and the M53 and it will be exciting to see what everyone else thinks.'

The central Ellesmere Port area includes the Port Arcades and the market, Civic Square, the railway station, the canal, Meadow Lane, Lees Lane, and Cromwell Road - but photos can be of anything you like or dislike within the area.

The results of the competition will be used to contribute towards the production of the Central Ellesmere Port Area Action Plan.

Photographs can be taken using any type of camera and the council has a limited number of disposable cameras for anyone who doesn't have access to a camera.

Call 0151 356 6504 if you would like a disposable camera and check out www.epnbc.gov.uk for full details.

All photographs must be received before noon on Friday, April 20 and the winner and runners-up will be announced by May 4.
