Thieves broke into a popular pub and made off with a quantity of cash during the early hours of Sunday morning (June 26).

The culprits damaged property at the Ring O' Bells in Christleton during the burglary, which took place between 12.45am and 7.35am.

Managing director Ian Wade told The Chronicle: "They smashed windows and generally made a mess.

“It is annoying more than anything as it has a knock-on effect on customers.

“But the police were excellent. At one stage there were five police officers there."
