ARSONISTS are thought to be behind a series of car fires in Little Sutton in the early hours of Monday, August 25.

Fire crews from Ellesmere Port fire station were called out to the car park of the Red Lion pub, Chester Road, Little Sutton, shortly before 3.30am, where they found two cars, one of which was a Rover Metro, well alight in the pub car park.

Within a matter of minutes, a second blaze was reported, this time in the driveway of a house in nearby Berwick Road.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “On arrival we found two saloon cars and a transit-type van well alight in the driveway.

“The two occupants of the house were moved to safety while we tackled the fire, which caused smoke damage to the exterior of the house.

“It would appear these two fires are linked but it would not be possible to confirm this until a full investigation has been carried out.”
