CARNIVAL time came to two Cheshire villages.

The annual Hargrave and Huxley Happy Days featured a parade of floats from Huxley to the church field in Hargrave led by The Batela Band.

Organisers promised the family fun-filled fete, with a carnival theme, would be bigger and better than ever.

This year’s carnival spirit saw the crowning of the rose queen being replaced by a carnival queen.

The regal moment came for 11-year-old Ellie Nicholas attended by Annabel Nicholas, Olivia and Amelia Briscoe, Heather Churchill-Evans and Katie Reynoldson.

Performing the ceremony was Sheila Whittingham who also opened the fete.

Attractions on the day ranged from sheep dogs and ducks, guessing the name of an owl and an archery display to a clown and ride a donkey.

There was a tug of war between the two villages and sport for kids with a host of stalls and activities for all the family, not forgetting the traditional mouthwatering Happy Days strawberry teas.

The weekend also saw music, a barbecue and auction, a Sunday lunch and family services in the marquee.
