A children’s charity has received a £4,000 boost from a golf event held in Cheshire.

Finance experts Illingworth Seddon Chartered Financial Planners raised £4,000 for their chosen charity Claire House Children’s Hospice at their annual golf event at Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa.

Fifty golfers played 18 holes for a charity which helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full, helping their families smile again when life couldn’t get any tougher.

There was a variety of competitions for people to take part in, such as the longest drive, nearest the pin and a Beat the Pro challenge. Golfers not playing their best on the day were also offered the chance to retake a shot in return for a donation.

After the game, a two course dinner was served at the presentation evening with prizes including champagne, a year’s supply of ice-cream and a four ball round of golf.

Claire Dickens, event manager at Illingworth Seddon, said: “Claire House is a great charity and a worthwhile cause as they help serious and terminally ill children and their families through some of the most difficult times anyone has to face. The work their team do is amazing and we are proud to be associated and support them.

“We chose to do a golf day as it is something that we all enjoy and the format helps raise money for a great cause. I want to thank our clients and local businesses who supported and took part in the event. We wouldn’t have been able to raise such a fantastic amount without their generosity.”

The day was confirmed as an outstanding success with more than £4,000 being raised on the day and further donations still coming in which, with company matching, is a total of more than £8,000 being raised.

Angella Rawsthorne, corporate fundraiser at Claire House Children’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as Illingworth Seddon Charted Financial Planner’s charity.

“As a charity, we rely heavily on the support from local businesses and the general public. The money raised by Illingworth Seddon will help support local families, giving them the opportunity to create some unforgettable memories.”
