A CAR burst into flames in its owners driveway after being driven.

Two fire crews were sent to the house in Welsh Road, Childer Thornton at 9.30am yesterday (Tuesday, November 2) to find the blaze had destroyed the vehicle.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “On arrival, we found the car, a relatively new Volvo estate, all but destroyed; it was probably an electrical fault.

“The owner had driven the car earlier but called us out when he looked out of the window later and saw smoke coming from it.

“Two officers in breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.”
