A GROUP of campaigners are celebrating after normal bus services were resumed at Windmill Hill.

The Bus Petition Group, compromising of Sheila Booth, Eveline Cassidy, Jayne Garrod and Alison Gilroy, collected more than 800 signatures in protest over the changes to the X1 service.

Eveline Cassidy, of Woodridge, Windmill Hill, said: 'We thank Mike Hall MP who, from January 7, has supported our cause.

'In early February, we enlisted the help of the North West Traffic Commissioner, who gave our residents on March 20 a return of the X1 service to Liverpool. The fares on these to Halton Lea are the same as the circulars, so please use them.'

Mrs Cassidy thanked Collette James for organising two busway protests in February, and also management and drivers from Arriva.

The BPG is now on hold, ready to deal with any future grievances with the service.
