A THAI entertainer has brought a winning recipe of fine cuisine accompanied by unique cabaret entertainment to Crewe.
The Sri Chiangmai Thai restaurant on Nantwich Road has been opened by Wendy Beddard but there is more on the menu than just food.
By day she runs her two restaurants in Didsbury and Crewe and by night she steps out to perform a glittering array of Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones and Elvis Presley hits for diners.
Wendy, 47, hails from North East Thailand but has lived in England for 19 years. She decided to branch out to South Cheshire after learning more of Crewe's cultural history.
She said: 'I realised there was a lot of history in Crewe with the train industry and Rolls-Royce. It's an upmarket place which is attracting a lot of investment.
'It's population is also growing through new housing developments. There are plenty of people around to come and enjoy my food.'
The Didsbury restaurant attracts an array of stars from across the North West, including John Thompson of Cold Feet fame and Denise Welsh from Coronation Street.
She said: 'My restaurant is very famous in Didsbury and people know me well. They come from all over because it's the only restaurant that does Thai entertainment.'
A VIP opening night saw Wendy and Thai dancers perform for guests including civic dignitaries and business people.
They enjoyed a buffet of authentic Thai dishes.
Wendy added: 'I had never been an entertainer before I came to England and started my restaurant in Didsbury. Karaoke is big in Thailand and when people came todineIdecidedtogivemysinging a try in front of an audience. They seemed to like it so I continued.'
Through her restaurants Wendy helps to raise money for orphans in Thailand who need medical help and food. She stages regular charity nights and ticket only functions for the cause.
Her 250-seater Nantwich Road restaurant is open every night with a special buffet available on Sundays.
