MOBILE phone millionaire John Caudwell is to create more than 2,000 jobs in Crewe as part of his booming insurance business.

Policy Administration Services (PAS), which employs more than 400 people at Crewe Hall Enterprise Park, has started a huge recruitment drive.

A massive surge in business means the company will have to either expand on the same site or look for another in Crewe, now home to the once Stoke-on-Trent-based Caudwell Group.

Jobs will range from telephone sales staff, claims assessors, IT technicians and web designers to directors earning six-figure sums.

PAS director Steve Nobes said: 'This is an exciting time for PAS.

'Having started little more than four years ago, we are already recognised as being the UK's leading mobile phone insurer across all networks, employing a workforce of more than 400 and achieving administration of insurance products in excess of £100m per annum.

'With this recent surge in growth, we are now looking to invest further in our people. We aim to recruit the most capable and adept workforce in the insurance industry.

'We are looking for exceptional individuals, people with real drive and enthusiasm who echo the ethos of our company and can add real value to a booming business.

'In the next five years, we plan to create more than 2,000 jobs in one of the biggest single recruitment strategies this region has seen in decades.'

South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce business manager Paul Coleman said the news once again put Crewe on the map.

He added: 'Crewe Hall Enterprise has these attributes and more. And with Crewe becoming a university town, there is a great pool of labour waiting to be tapped. The expansion is great news for South Cheshire as a whole.'
