LESSONS in leading a healthy life have won a city school national praise.

St Clare’s Catholic Primary School, Hawthorn Road, Lache, scooped two national awards – Activemark and National Healthy School.

Headteacher Terry Daltrey said: “The Activemark recognises our commitment to providing high quality Physical Education.

“The Healthy School award recognises our work in promoting physical and emotional health and well being.

“All connected with the school are delighted to have their hard work and commitment recognised.

“It is national recognition for schools who have reached a high level of PE and after school sports.

“The Healthy School Award covers a range of things including healthy eating and social, personal and sex education.

“We have a big commitment to PE and physical activities during break time, dinner time and after school.

“It’s not just academic, it’s about people looking after themselves.

“We have a scheme where we get free fruit for all our children. Snacktime in the morning is fruit only.”
