PLANS are already under way for the third Malpas Festival, which will take place next May.

The four-day arts and literature extravaganza has been a huge success since it began in 2011 with a whole host of well known faces contributing to the line-up.

Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Revel-Horwood headlined this year’s festival who appeared In Conversation talking about his life and career.

Folk singer Peggy Seeger, author Deborah Morgan, blues duo Dave Hall and Bob Hall also provided the entertainment, and next year is set to be every bit as exciting.

The event, to be held on May 16-19 2013, will resurrect the feel-good 1970s musical Godspell, which will be adapted and directed by award-winning writer John Oakden.

He is looking to assemble a cast of young people to fill the roles of actors, musicians and dancers to appear in the show which will be performed over two nights in St Oswalds Church.

Budding performers between the ages of 16-30 are invited to come along to an open audition at The old Fire Station Bistro on Malpas High Street on Monday, November 12, at 7pm.

Mr Oakden, who has co-directed Malfest for the past two years said:

“ The first time I saw this musical the whole audience were standing, applauding and singing along.

“I want to create the same experience for Malfest with some of the many talented young people in this area.”
