A THEATRE company will present an award-winning musical in Chester this weekend.

Brownpaper Productions presents The Last Five Years at The Forum Studio Theatre tomorrow and Saturday, July 16 and 17.

This contemporary song-cycle musical, written by Tony Award-winning Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Songs For A New World), chronicles the five-year life of a relationship between a writer and an actress, who fall in and out of love over the course of five years.

The cast includes Phil Cross (Benjamin from the touring cast of Joseph) and Dani Fray (BBC1's Grange Hill) and musical direction is by Simon Phillips.

Producer Brian Fray said: “We started Brownpaper productions two and a half years ago with a view to putting on compilation shows to raise money for us to produce a really great musical in Chester

“This beautiful piece by Brown, who is described by theatre lovers worldwide as the ‘new Sondheim’, promises to be one of the highlights of this year's summer programme at The Forum.”

Tickets for The Last Five Years are £10 (£9 concessions) from www.chestertheatre.co.uk or 01244 341296.
