ELDERLY residents of Whitby House Nursing Home were desperate to see one of their favourite members of staff get married.

But mobility problems meant it was going to be difficult for most of them to get to St Paul's Church in Hooton to watch senior care assistant Rachael Campbell tie the knot with Robert Ashman on Saturday.

So Rachael decided to stop off at the Pooltown Road home on her way to church to show off her dress.

Rachael's mum Susan said: 'She has worked at Whitby House since she left school seven years ago and the residents think the world of her.

'They all thought it was a lovely gesture for her to stop off on the way to church, and even some of their relatives have been phoning up to thank us for doing it.'
