MAJOR routes into the city and Chester Railway Station have been re-opened following the fire Chester Enterprise Centre, off Hoole Bridge which started at 4am.

Hoole Road and Hoole Bridge which were closed for four hours were re-opened at 8.30pm although Lightfoot Street located near to the centre remains partially closed.

A police spokeswoman said: "Cheshire Fire and Rescue have now advised that the plume of smoke from the fire does not pose any risks to local residents. The building involved has major structural damage but because of its locations within the site does not pose any risk to members of the public. Roads in the area reopened at around 8.30am, however access in the Lightfoot Street area remains limited. Chester Railway station is now fully open.

She added: "Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue are working together to establish the cause of the fire."
