Tickets for this summer’s highly-anticipated Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre season went on sale just last week and have already passed 1,500, beating previous opening week sales by nearly 500%.

The season, which will run from July 4–August 24, includes Shakespeare’s best known tragedy Macbeth, a new adaptation of the childhood classic The Secret Garden and that most farcical of Shakespeare’s plays, The Comedy of Errors.

This year Chester Performs, the arts production company behind the critically acclaimed theatre, have introduced a range of discounts for children, young people and families including free under 12s and hundreds of £10 tickets for teenagers.

The uniquely informal and relaxed theatre space at the city beauty spot has always been a welcoming environment for young families to enjoy live productions. This summer, both The Secret Garden and The Comedy of Errors will make for perfect picnic theatre for all ages.

Andrew Bentley of Chester Performs said: “We’re committed to making Grosvenor Park as accessible as possible to young people and families. Unlike many other venues, our discounts mean that families simply don’t need to worry about cost. It’s probably cheaper to bring the kids with you than to organise a babysitter!”

The range of discounts available include: the return of the popular free under 12s (with a ticket buying adult); discounts for students and a new £10 ticket for teenagers. £10 teenage tickets are available across all shows but are limited so Chester Performs are encouraging theatre-goers to book early to secure the best savings.

And the theatre continues to operate its flexible pricing policy, meaning prices rise according to demand.
