A FORMER bomb disposal expert has become the new president of Tarporley Rotary Club.

Joe O’Connor, 46, was met with explosive applause when he was voted in as president at The Rising Sun.

Joe served in the Royal Engineers. He now works as an independent financial adviser.

He said: “At times the investment arena can be just as volatile as unexploded ordnance. My job is to defuse that volatility and guide my clients through the times of uncertainty.”

Joe is married to Tracey and has three sons aged four, eight and 14 years, Conrad, Leyton and Hadley respectively

He said: “I am delighted to become the new president of our wonderful club. It’s going to be a very exciting year.

“We’re hoping to introduce a lot of new things and are looking for inspired and enthusiastic men and women to join.

“We have a lot of fun and really enjoy ourselves, on top of all the fundraising we do, and would love to hear from anyone interested in joining us and making a real difference to their community.”

Joe’s year started with a bang on Saturday when Rotarians organised Tarporley Carnival with colleagues from Tarporley and District Round Table.
