THE body of a 76-year-old man from Great Boughton was found in a car near a popular seaside attraction.

Police and forensic officers cordoned off the Beach Road car park near the Nova Centre in Prestatyn just after 12.40pm on Saturday following the grim discovery.

The incident came as hundreds of revellers attended the town’s carnival celebrations nearby.

Visitors were not allowed to park in the car park behind the crazy golf course as the site was taped off while investigations were carried out.

North Wales Police spokesman Michael McGivern said: “Police confirmed that the body of a man, who was not from the North Wales area, was found in a vehicle and his family have been informed.

“Police are not treating the matter as suspicious.”

A cover was put over the vehicle, which was towed away by a recovery truck.

The man, who has not yet been named, had been reported missing the previous day.

One eyewitness said: “Lots of police and ambulances came out of nowhere and the carnival procession had to be halted to let the emergency services through. No one knew what was happening.”

Christine Jones, who runs the crazy golf, said: “I saw a lady run to a police officer to get help.

“The next minute there were police cars and officers everywhere.”
