BLUE Peter presenter Joel Defries was seen taking part in a window cleaning job with a big difference when he took the plunge at Cheshire Oak’s Blue Planet Aquarium.

Joel helped the dive team to clean the aquarium’s 3.8 million litre Caribbean Reef display, surrounded by tropical sharks and stingrays.

The 24-year-old presenter spent two days at the aquarium to record a film for the popular children’s show which was broadcast last Wednesday.

Blue Planet Aquarium’s dive officer, Kelly Timmins, said: “It was fantastic having the opportunity to dive with Joel and to have the rest of the Blue Peter crew at the aquarium.

“It was all really exciting and I think the director and Joel were delighted with the results – although it all involved a lot of planning and the use of some cutting edge underwater technology.

“Joel got very close to the sharks and also helped us out with a bit of unusual early spring cleaning,” she added.

Blue Planet is home to Europe’s largest collection of sharks, with over 30 exotic species.
