BLACON High School celebrated this year with a bumper crop of improved GCSE results.

This year, 46% of students have achieved five A*-C grades, a 15% increase on last year.

Headteacher Ella Brett said: “We are delighted with our results, which show a tremendous improvement on previous years, and we are delighted for the students.

“The success is down to the hard work of staff and students, and the support of parents, governors, local community members and those agencies associated with our school. “The school continues to go from strength to strength, and we are proud to offer Blacon families a high quality education.”

Particularly impressive results were achieved by: Lucy Fellows, 12 A*-C; Jess Price, 11 A*-C; Matthew Ferris, 11 A*-C; Becky Yule, 11 A*-C; Tasha Clutton, 10 A*-C; Lucy Hunt, 10 A*-C; Chloe Bramley, nine A*-C; Philip Russell, nine A*-C.
