A BLACON resident is fed up after facing weeks of flooding misery.

Colin Creagh, of Saughall Road, said he has had his back garden and the road in front of his home frequently flooded as blocked drains mean the water has nowhere to go.

Despite making a complaint to Cheshire West and Chester Council, Mr Creagh said no noticeable action had been taken and he was still having trouble.

He said: “Every time it has been raining or snowing in the past 10 weeks there has been flooding in my back garden.

“I have been in touch with the council, I reported it 10 weeks ago. I went on holiday and they got in touch since then and said they were going to put some sort of dye to see where the excess water was coming from.

“But I have still had problems with the water – why can’t they clear out the drain?

“The water is running down the road, past my house and by Stamford Road, past the bus stop.

“At times there seem to be two or three rivers going across the road when it has been snowing.

“The first thing they should do is unblock the drain where the flooding is coming from – it’s not rocket science.”

A spokeswoman for Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “The drainage problems are something we are aware of, it is in relation to a drain at the back around Stamford Road and Saxon Way.

“We are in the midst of a full ongoing investigation and we are working with multi-agency officers, as well as keeping the complainant up to date.”
