An elderly man whose car crashed into a house in Blacon last month has passed away, police have confirmed.

Alan Fawcett was at the wheel of his car outside his house on Blacon Avenue on February 18 when he is said to have suffered a heart attack at the wheel, causing the car to crash through the living room window.

At the time, a passer-by told The Chronicle that a woman, believed to be Mr Fawcett’s wife, had been in the living room when the incident happened.

Police say they are not able to provide an update on her condition or confirm whether or not she is still in hospital.

Neighbours said the couple were ‘lovely people’ who had lived on the street for years, so news of Mr Fawcett’s death at the Countess of Chester Hospital on March 7 will be a sad loss to the community.

Both police and Chester Coroner’s Court confirmed Mr Fawcett had died, and said there will not be an inquest into his death.
