THE chance to take a penalty against Chester FC’s youth goalie will be just one of the free fun activities for all the family at this year’s Blacon Festival this Saturday.

Seventeen year-old Ryan Nield is inviting visitors to show their skills in a fun penalty shoot out at this year’s festival, which is being held in the grounds of Blacon High School from 11am until 3pm.

Organised by Avenue Services, which is now part of Sanctuary Group, the Blacon Festival is Chester’s largest community-led festival and attractions include street dancing, stalls, youth choirs, pony rides, vintage cars and a comedy mascot race.

Avenue Services is calling on businesses across Chester to bring a mascot on the day – so far Chester FC’s Big Lupus, NHS Mr Cig, Bingo Mecca Rebecca, Loan Shark for Welfare Reform and Swansway Peugeot and Dee 106.3’s Chester the cat will be in the race.

Trained welfare advisers are also on hand to provide useful money-saving ideas.

Gemma Capewell, Avenue Services community development worker, said: “With lots of fun new events this year, we encourage you to come along and see what’s on offer.

“It should be a fun day out for all the family.”
