BLACK ice has caused minor bumps on the roads around Chester.

Five cars were involved in a collision on Blacon Avenue about 7.30am today (Tuesday, January 18) due to the icy conditions leading to minor injuries.

One vehicle reportedly hit a bollard. Gritters were on scene within minutes. Police said the road was closed for a time causing disruption to motorists and buses.

A police spokeswoman said the vehicles appeared to have “slid into each other”.

A little earlier, about 7.08am, a red Rover Advantage and a silver Toyota Yaris were involved in a collision on the Parkgate Road near the Mollington Banastre hotel. One driver suffered seat belt injuries.
