Students have been praised for ‘wonderful’ GCSE results at Bishops’ Blue Coat Church of England High School in Boughton, Chester.

No fewer than 87% of its Year 11 students achieved at least five A*-C GCSE grades, with 64% attaining five A*-C, including English and maths and 26% of students’ GCSE grades were either A or A*.

Highest performing student at the Vaughans Lane school was Megan Chester, who achieved 12 straight A* grades.

“These are wonderful results”, said headteacher Justin Blakebrough, “a credit to all our hard-working students and teachers.

“We are particularly pleased that our provisional ‘value added’ score is our highest ever and well above average, showing that all students at Bishops’, whatever their background or ability, can thrive and make excellent progress. 

“Congratulations to all those who are collecting their results this week.”
