STUDENTS at Bishop Heber High School are celebrating their outstanding GCSE results.

With an overall pass rate of over 99% – 74% of which were at grades A*-C – students have been rewarded for their hard work and commitment during the year.

The school reported that 25% of all grades were the top A* and A grades and results in science, geography, history, technology subjects, English literature, PE and ICT are all considerably above national expectations.

Among students celebrating their success was Kate Ashley, from Oldcastle, who achieved nine A* grades, three A grades and one B grade, in addition to early success at two AS-Level exams.

Other success stories include John Briggs, Tom Ellis, Abbey Fitzgerald, Alex Hallam, Laura Hanmer, Claire Hellingman, Alice Moseley, James Payne-Gill, David Rodge, Dan Rowan, Matthew Smith, Christina Stapleton, Bethan Thomas-Rees, William Tyson, Caroline Weston and Sarah Weston, who all achieved at least eight A*s.

Headteacher David Curry is delighted with all students, praising their efforts and the support given to them by their parents and teachers.

“Students from across the ability range have achieved results that are a credit to them demonstrating superb progress and, in many cases, exceeding their predicted grades,” he said.

“In addition to their GCSE successes, Year 11 students also made valuable contributions to the school and wider community in many ways, including raising money for charities and as community sports leaders.

“We are looking forward to welcoming record numbers of returning students into the sixth form when term starts for them on Wednesday September 3 and, with these results, can be confident they will go on to emulate the A and AS Level successes we celebrated with our sixth form students last week.”
