A BIKER remains in a critical condition after his motorbike was involved in a crash with a school bus.

The 38-year-old, believed to be from Huxley, was driving through Cuddington on Wednesday morning when he collided with the double-decker.

He received serious injuries and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, leaving the mangled wreckage of his red Honda VFR on the roadside.

Yesterday, Cheshire Constabulary spokesman Ian Cuthbertson said the man was in a serious but stable condition and the driver of the bus was uninjured.

Police reports say no passengers were injured on the bus, which was running a school service at the time, and no-one has come forward to say they were suffering from shock.

Within minutes of the accident, officers swarmed the scene and the accident investigation unit was called to survey the wreckage.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the accident, which occurred at about 8am on Forest Road at the junction with Ash Road in Northwich.

The road was closed between the A49, where it meets the A556 at Sandiway, near the Blakemere crossroads, and the White Bear pub

in Cuddington. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who has any information should contact PC John Gardener or Sgt Blair Wilson at the traffic office on 01244 612 599.
