JUBILANT students at the University Church of England Academy in Ellesmere Port are celebrating ‘fantastic’ GCSE results.
A record 76% of students achieved five A*-C grades, with more than 40% getting the top grades in English and maths, the school’s best ever performance.
It means the school’s performance has improved by 8% in just a year.
The proportion of students achieving five GCSE grades has also increased, to more than 90%.
Headteacher Kevin McDermott said: “I must credit the hard work of the students, with the support from their parents and our staff.
“These results show a very positive upward trend and, considering that in only three years the academy has almost doubled the results of our predecessor schools, they are remarkable.
“These results provide a fantastic ‘springboard’ for our community as we prepare to move into a new building.”
