CONCERNED villagers have objected to a farmer’s plans to install a 15m wind turbine.

Phillip Brereton, of Spring Farm, Bickley, near Malpas, has submitted a planning application to Chester West and Cheshire Council for a 15kw turbine on a 15m tower.

If successful, the farmer will use energy to power his property – including a robotic milking machine.

Local residents have voiced their opposition to the proposals.

Neighbour Jane Bebbington, who lives next door to the farm, is one of many who said that the plans would impact on the quality of life in Bickley.

She said: “I enjoy spending peaceful evenings out in the tranquil surroundings I live in, this would not be possible if the proposal was accepted. The only person to gain from this is the applicant.”

Speaking on behalf of the Mr Brereton’s project, Natural Energy agent Tony Carver said that the turbine is designed to reduce bills and is not a commercial venture.

He said: “With the price of energy bills and the potential future lack of energy, this turbine will help.

“There those against these projects but ours is nothing like the huge wind farms. The turbine will be the size of an Oak tree and the propeller blades are hardly noticeable at all.”

Clerk Ann Wright confirmed that No Mans Heath Parish Council is in support of Mr Brereton’s application.
