A CHESTER Guide will be taking on extra household chores for the next six months.

Beth Paynter, of Newton, hopes to raise funds to enable her to take part in an International Scout Camp in Austria in August.

The 15-year-old Upton High School pupil needs to raise £800 to pay for the trip to Berg.

She was selected to represent Cheshire Forest Division at Aqua – The Water Jamboree – following a weekend camp involving team building exercises and questionnaires.

The jamboree is the 12th international camp of the Upper Austrian Scouts.

Beth said: “I will be away for 14 days, meeting Guides and Scouts from all over the world.

“We take gifts with us from our country to exchange with young people from other countries.”

On her return Beth will have to produce an account of her fundraising with a summary of income and expenditure. She will also promote International Camp by putting up displays and talking to local people that have helped her fundraise.

“I have made lots of plans for fundraising including bag packing with the help of my Guide and Brownie pack at a local supermarket, a beetle drive evening to include our parents and a raffle at my mum’s work.

“Also members of my Guide pack are going to fill Smartie tubes with 20p pieces with a prize for the best decorated tube.”

Beth is a member of the 17th Chester Guide Company which meets at the New Church on Dicksons Drive.
