BETH Tweddle is trying to grow her hair long, despite sporting a trendy bob on Sunday’s Dancing on Ice programme on ITV.

Speaking to The Chronicle after a cheeky Charleston number to Caro Emerald’s That Man, the Olympic bronze medallist said: “A lot of people said I suited it but I don't think for the time being I could cut my hair shorter. I am trying to grow it long at the minute.”

Beth and partner Dan Whiston found themselves in second place for the second week running after the routine in which she was dressed in a short red flapper dress, with a feather in her hair.

They then fell to fourth after the team challenge which saw Team Beth (Beth, Coronation Street star Samia Ghadie and TV presenter Keith Chegwin), dancing Gangnam Style, lose to Team Matt (former Eastenders star Matt Lapinskas, Olympic gold medallist Luke Campbell and Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas).

The former Queen’s School pupil was not to be put off. She said: “I loved the team challenge last week. We had so much fun rehearsing it and it was really nice to be back on the ice as a team rather than as individuals.”

Supporting Beth every week in the TV studios are mum Ann and dad Jerry, who live in Bunbury.

According to Beth, one of Ann’s favourite routines was last week’s ‘headbanger’ to Rihanna’s We Found Love.

She said: “My mum has loved being able to be there each week.

“She has two favourite routines! One was ‘Clown’ in week five. I think that was because I was skating alone and that was maybe the first week they saw a real performance.

“The second one was last week’s because it was so full of tricks with the whirlybird and the headbanger.”

Beth admits to finding the routines mentally frustrating rather than physically.

She said: “On Sunday we obviously had the two routines, individual and team, but we also had the opening number with Olly Murs and we always have to have the ‘save me’ skate ready.”
